New projects

Interstate 95 (south end): The fast and center lanes will be closed TODAY from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. for bridge repair.

Interstate 695 (southbound): Traffic detour, Sparrows Point Viaduct -- between Exits 42 and 43 -- to Bethlehem Boulevard, TODAY, Dec. 22 and 23, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bear Creek Viaduct: Mobile lane closures, between Exits 43 and 44, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Periodic traffic delays north- and southbound.

Curtis Creek Drawbridge: TOMORROW through Dec. 21, one lane closed southbound, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Route 5 (St. Mary's County): Work has begun on construction of 1.3-mile Leonardtown Bypass between Route 245 and St. Andrews Church Road. Lane closures may occur at either end of the bypass, but not during peak hours.

Toll facilities

Baltimore Harbor Tunnel: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, two-way traffic in one tube for routine maintenance.

Bay Bridge (U.S. 50/301): Toll plaza under reconstruction, two lanes closed. Single-lane closures for paving from Sandy Point to Stevensville.

Key Bridge (I-695): All week, dawn to dusk, one lane closed in each direction.

I-95: Possible lane closings on Susquehanna bridge. Periodic lane closures elsewhere in Baltimore/Harford counties. Off-peak closings between I-695 and White Marsh Boulevard for median construction. In Howard County, two-lane closures northbound 8 to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday, for repaving. Exit ramp from northbound I-95 to Washington Boulevard closed; ramp will reopen in February.

Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (U.S. 40): Construction continues on toll plaza; one lane closed in each direction on bridge.


Northeast side: Delays and single-lane closures, Belair Road to Perring Parkway, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Anne Arundel County

U.S. 50/301: Westbound U.S. 50/301 relocated to right. Ramp to southbound Route 2 exits from left lane. Ridgely Avenue bridge over U.S. 50/301 closed. Interchanges with Patuxent Boulevard (Route 665) and Interstate 97 complete; all ramps open.

Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route 295): Work is under way on diamond interchange at parkway and Routes 100/176. Single-lane closures along north- and southbound Route 295, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Route 3: Construction between I-695 and Route 32 (highway is being upgraded to interstate). Benfield Boulevard interchange relocated.

Route 10: Construction on southern extension near Jumpers Hole Road and Ritchie Highway is nearing completion.


Hanover Street Bridge (Route 2): Rehabilitation work has begun and will take approximately 18 months. Bridge will remain open, but there will be lane reductions in both directions, with occasional weekend closures.

Baltimore Street between Calvert and Gay streets: Lane restrictions daily, particularly during non-peak hours, for subway construction.

Mulberry Street (U.S. 40, downtown Baltimore): Closed between Howard and St. Paul Place.

Cold Spring Lane bridge over Stony Run: Bridge replacement is in process. Cold Spring Lane now closed to westbound traffic at Charles Street (reopens next spring). East- and westbound traffic on Cold Spring Lane will operate on north side of roadway when work begins on southern portion of bridge. The project will be completed in late 1991.

Baltimore County

Fairmount Avenue: Closed to westbound traffic from Joppa Road to York Road. Work will be completed in mid-January.

Paper Mill Road (Baltimore County): Repairs to bridge over Loch Raven Reservoir continue. Bridge will remain closed until March.

Cecil County

Route 7: Bridge work over Amtrak near Bacon Hill, south of Elkton. Existing bridge will be demolished and is closed to traffic.
