Lloyd paces Dunbar's 117-68 romp Basketball

Michael Lloyd's 23 points and 12 assists led top-ranked Dunbar (4-0) over visiting Mount St. Joseph (2-2), 117-68, yesterday in boys basketball. Lloyd also led the Poets in rebounds with eight, and Donta Bright added 19 points and six boards.

Darrin Jones paced St. Joe with 17 points.

In other games:

Solomon Duncan's last-second shot from just inside the three-point line lifted host Greater Grace (2-2) to a 69-67 victory over Calvary (1-1). Duncan led Greater Grace with 28 points, and Rick Lebaron paced Calvary with 18.

Caruthers Gant and Gregg Washington combined for 46 points, as No. 9 Oakland Mills (1-2) defeated visiting Gilman (4-3), 88-62. Ed Trusty led the Greyhounds with 18.

Maurice Boone scored 11 of his game-high 23 in the fourth quarter to lift host Edgewood (3-0) over Elkton (2-1), 70-55. Damon Bomar added 19 points and nine rebounds, and Boone also had five steals and four assists for Edgewood.

Girls

Ann Donavan's 23 points led No. 3 St. Mary's (2-1) over Institute of Notre Dame, 55-40.

Amy Dean scored 18 points as John Carroll (4-1) defeated visiting Catholic, 52-49.

Ann Marie Kelly and Laura Klaes combined for 28 points as host Notre Dame Prep (2-0) edged Mercy (0-2), 52-51. Mercy was led by Stephanie Rohe's game-high 19 points.

Norma Ragin scored 18 points to lead visiting Southwestern (1-0) over Patterson (0-1), 49-47. Patterson's Sharone Dixon scored 20 points.
