ABC puts a hold on 'China Beach'

Viewers planning to watch the last episode of "China Beach" tomorrow night before it goes on indefinite hiatus will have to change their plans.

ABC has decided not to show "China Beach" Saturday. An ABCspokesman said the move does not mean the show is canceled. The network has six finished episodes and will air them next spring. "China Beach" is not currently in production and ABC has not ordered any shows beyond the six already in hand.

"China Beach," which has performed poorly in the ratings, already had been scheduled for pre-emption in Baltimore. WJZ-TV (Channel 13) plans to show the 1951 feature film, "A Christmas Carol," at 8 p.m.
