Baltimore policeman injured by hit-and-run driver

A police officer suffered minor injuries in a hit-and-run accident as he was directing traffic in West Baltimore last night, police said.

Officer Terrence Kelley Jr., 21, was directing traffic about 9:30 p.m. around a car that police were towing in the 900 block of Hilton Parkway. The officer was waving a Pontiac past when the car hit him.

The Pontiac briefly pinned Officer Kelley against a parked police car. Police were searching last night for the driver and the car, dark green and with a rear tail light out.

Officer Kelley was taken to University Hospital with injuries to the wrist and groin, police said, but the injuries were not believed serious.
