A man with a gun tried to rob an Annapolis bank yesterday but ran off after a teller sounded an alarm.

At about 6:40 p.m., county police said, a man walked up to the drive-through window of the Annapolis Bank & Trust on Riva Road and pointed a gun at the teller. The robber began motioning for her to open the rear door of the building. The woman ran into the automated teller room and pushed the alarm button.

The robber ran to the back of the bank and left the area.

Police described the robber as a white male wearing a gray waist-length jacket, jeans, a blue stocking cap and some type of white scarf that covered his face.

The robber was last seen running north on Ritchie Highway.

Police described the robber as a black male about 18 years old with a dark complexion. He was wearing a black ski jacket and blue jeans.
