Channel 54 gets lottery drawing

December 13, 1990

Beginning Dec. 26, players in the Maryland State Lottery will have to switch stations to learn whether they won or lost. The state Board of Public Works yesterday granted a five-year contract for telecasting the nightly drawings to WNUV-Channel 54.

The drawings, which have been seen for some years on WJZ-Channel 13, will air live at 7:58 p.m.

Joseph Koff, WNUV's general manager, said the independent station sought the drawing show as a ratings builder. He said the station is talking with lottery officials about making the drawings a half-hour entertainment program sometime in the future.
