Baltimore City

ROBBERY: Western District -- Howard Mitchell, of the 1000 block of Brantley Ave., reported that when he returned home around 4 a.m. yesterday he heard unusual noises coming from a room and was suddenly assaulted by two men, one armed with a handgun, who had broken in earlier and were waiting for him. Mitchell told police the men, both in their mid-30s, robbed him of more than $100.

RAPE/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he forced a female resident of Payson Street into a dwelling in the 1600 block of Mosher St., where he struck her several times and raped her. After the assault and rape, the woman was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Later, police arrested a 30-year-old resident of the 1700 block of N. Calhoun St. in connection with the incident.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Thomas Silox, of the 400 block of Lake Vista Circle in Cockeysville, reported that he was in the 1500 block of N. Dukeland St. yesterday when he was accosted by a man armed with a knife who demanded his money. Police said the man robbed Silox of his wallet containing $15.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of the Maryland Oven Co. in the 1700 block of W. North Ave., reported that someone forced their way into their building between Friday and yesterday and removed 10 industrial warming covers for baking ovens. Police said the equipment was valued at $10,000.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Paul J. Hogan, of the 800 block of W. 37th St., reported that he was walking in the 100 block of Wine Alley shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men who called out to him. Hogan told police one of the men grabbed him around the shoulder and together they pushed him into a nearby alley. There, the men robbed Hogan of $85 and a 14-karat gold wedding band valued at nearly $100.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 1600 block of Division St. reported that someone entered her apartment with a key and removed $80 from the bedroom. Police said the victim suspects a woman she knows of taking the money.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Mary Hopkins, of the 3100 block of Phelps Lane, reported that she was standing at a bus stop in the 2600 block of Maryland Ave. yesterday afternoon when a man approached and stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the man escaped with cash and property valued at more than $200.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Central District -- Police arrested a 14-year-old girl and charged her as a juvenile in the cutting of a 12-year-old girl in the 1400 block of Myrtle Ave. Police said the victim was cut with a broken bottle, treated at an area hospital for injuries and released. After charges, the older girl was released into the custody of her parents.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that someone forced their way into a dwelling in the 1100 block of Tiffany Court Monday and removed property valued at more than $200 from a second-floor bedroom.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Perry Bennett, of the 500 block of W. Preston St., reported that he was walking in the 500 block of W. Preston St. shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one armed with a knife, who demanded his money. Bennett told police he gave up more than $70 to the men, who fled the scene on foot.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Joo Kim, of the 7900 block of Covington Ave., reported that she was locking up her business, a laundry in the 700 block of W. North Ave., around 7 p.m. yesterday when a man approached her from the rear and placed a hard object in her back. Police said the man then robbed the woman of an undisclosed sum of money.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Carswell St. reported that someone forced their way into her home through a rear window and removed $300 from an envelope.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of James M. Kearns Plumbing & Heating in the 2800 block of Beechland Ave. reported that someone broke into one of their company-owned vehicles and removed two drills. Police said the equipment was valued at nearly $700.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Andrew Dondero, of the 2200 block of Hamilton Ave., reported that while his truck was parked near his home someone took out a rear window and removed a miter saw. Police said the saw was valued at nearly $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that a man armed with a handgun entered the Hillen laundry in the 2800 block of Hillen Road and removed nearly $62 from the cash register after forcing the manager onto the floor at gunpoint.
