Baseball Cleveland Indians -- Named Tony DeMacio national scouting supervisor. Announced the resignation of Gary Sherwood, director of ticket sales.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced that free-agent first baseman Gary Redus (.247, 6 HRs, 23 RBI, 11 stolen bases) has accepted salary arbitration.

Oakland Athletics -- Agreed to terms with P Eric Show (6-8, 5.76 ERA with Padres last season) on a two-year contract. Released P Joe Law.

Seattle Mariners -- Acquired OF Dennis Hood (.247, 8 HRs, 36 RBI at Class AAA Richmond) from the Atlanta Braves for P Scott Taylor (8-8, 5.41 ERA at Class A San Bernardino).


Rapid City Thrillers (CBA) -- Named Jim Calvin coach.

Sacramento Kings -- Waived F Ricky Calloway. Activated F Anthony Bonner off the injured list.

Sioux Falls Sky Force (CBA) -- Named Leo Parent assistant general manager.

USAB -- Named Florida coach Lon Kruger coach of the U.S. team for the 1991 Junior Men's World Championships.

Washington Bullets -- Waived G Larry Robinson (6.7 points, 2.4 assists in 10 games).


Army -- Signed Bob Sutton, football coach, to a multiyear contract.

Boston College -- Named Chet Gladchuk athletic director.

Manhattan -- Announced that women's soccer will be elevated from a club sport to NCAA Division I status, effective fall semester 1991. Named Mike Alosco women's soccer coach.

Ohio State -- Suspended starting DE Alonzo Spellman and a redshirt player for disciplinary reasons and both will miss the Liberty Bowl.

Seton Hall -- Announced retirement of Sue Patton, men's and women's tennis coach.

Vanderbilt -- Announced F Morgan Wheat has quit the basketball team.

William Penn -- Announced resignation of Rex Grimes, football coach.


Dallas Cowboys -- Waived OT Louis Cheek. Activated DT Mitch Willis and DB Michael Brooks from the practice squad.

Detroit Lions -- Activated LB Toby Caston, CB Bruce Alexander and WR Robert Claiborne. Placed CB Bruce McNorton on injured reserve. Waived PK Rich Karlis and LB Jimmy Williams.


Captial District Islanders (AHL) -- Recalled LW Jeff Jablonski and Hank Lammens, from Kansas City of the IL. Recalled C Iain Fraser Richmond of East Coast Hockey League.

New York Islanders -- Recalled C Greg Parks; RWs Derek Laxdal and Tom Fitzgerald; D Dean Chynoweth from Capital District of the AHL.

Philadelphia Flyers -- Announced that D Kerry Huffman has returned to the team. Assigned Huffman to Hershey of AHL.

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Recalled LW Troy Loney and D Jim Kyte from Muskegon of the IHL.
