COX COMPLETES AIR FORCE TRAINING
Airman Barry L. Cox, son of Rosina E. Galbreath of Columbia, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
In the six weeks of training, he studied Air Force history, organization, customs and received special instruction in human relations.
Cox is a 1981 graduate of Walbrook Senior High School, Baltimore.
NAVY'S SIMMS ENDS ENGINEERING COURSE
Navy Ensign James L. Simms, son of William and Donna Simms of Sykesville, has graduated from Basic Civil Engineer Corps Officer Course.
During the two-month course at Port Hueneme, Calif., Simms received instruction on engineering management, network analysis, financial management and naval organization.
Simms, who is a 1986 Glenelg High School graduate, joined the Navy in May 1990.
NAVY GIVES MARKS ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathon Marks, son of Gladys Davisson of Columbia, recently received the Navy Achievement Medal.
Marks received the decoration for his superior performance of duty while serving at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He joined the Navy in August 1982 and is currently stationed at Marine Corps Recruiting Station Portsmouth, N.H.
BASIC TRAINING DONE FOR MARINE FLAHERTY
Marine Pvt. Troy P. Flaherty, son of William and Judith Flaherty of Columbia, has completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C.
In his 13-week training cycle, Flaherty was taught the basics of battlefield survival and was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment.
He is a 1989 graduate of Centennial High School.
PAIR OF SERVICEMEN CHOOSE TO RE-ENLIST
The following servicemen have re-enlisted:
* Navy Seaman Michael T. Davis, son of Shelton and Debora Palmer of Laurel, has re-enlisted for five years while serving aboard the USS Caron, homeported in Norfolk, Va.
Davis joined the Navy in September 1987.
* Marine Sgt. David R. Garner, son of Patricia Carpenter of Ellicott City, has re-enlisted for four years while serving at Marine Barracks, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Garner joined the Marine Corps in September 1983.
ARMY'S PVT. GARRISI ENDS BASIC TRAINING
Army Reserve Pvt. Mark J. Garrisi, son of Joesph Garrisi of Marriottsville, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Garrisi's studies included drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, military history and Army history and traditions. The private is a 1988 graduate of Mount Hebron High School.
