Eva Augusta Akehurst, 96, who taught in northern Baltimore County for almost 40 years, died Wednesday at College Manor of heart failure.
Funeral services will be at noon tomorrow at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3738 Butler Road in Glyndon.
A native of Worthington Valley, Miss Akehurst graduated from the old Agricultural High School in Sparks and what is now Towson State University.
She retired in 1962 as assistant principal of the 5th District Consolidated School after teaching there and at other northern Baltimore County Schools since the early 1920s. Among them was the Yeoho School, a one-room school on Yeoho Road in Sparks, which she had attended and which she later bought and remodeled as her home.
