North County Knights

1990-91 Anne Arundel County Hoops At A Glance

December 07, 1990

Head coach: Sally Entsminger (first year)

Assistants: Alice Evans and Walt Robuck

1989-1990 record: Andover 3-17; Brooklyn Park 22-3.

Returnees: Seniors Lisa Betz (guard), Elise Maccubbin (forward), Kim Miller (center), Tina Miller (guard) and Stephanie Meyer (guard); juniors Tonya Kolodziejski (forward) and Renita Johnson (forward); sophomores Nicki Faulkner (guard) and Becky Webb (forward).

Newcomers: Senior Natasha James (guard); juniors Amy Helms (forward), Lori Carnes (guard), Kathy Starr (guard) and Tina Armstrong (forward); sophomore Jeannette Merrick (guard).

Coach's outlook: "We have some talent, and it's tough trying to get the players in the right spots. We're still doing that, and we'll probably be doing it until Christmas. For the most part, the players are aggressive, and they're taking charge and communicating. As a team, we're looking to run as often as we can, and the big players get up and down the floor very well. Defensively, we're going to go after people."

Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: Entsminger's job is complicated by the fact that she has several talented players who all can contribute in various ways. Kim Miller (6-foot), Maccubbin (5-9), Johnson (5-10) and Helms (5-11) will try to control the boards. Tina Miller (5-7, no relation to Kim), Betz (5-6), Kolodziejski (5-8) and Meyer (5-6) are balanced players both offensively and defensively. A supporting cast of seven sophomores and juniors add depth to the Knights, as they try to contend with the 4A schools. And they should.
