* WHERE: Special Events Center in El Paso, Texas.

* OUTLOOK: Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-4) is coming off a 79-62 loss at New Mexico on Monday, when Sean Salisbury led the Hawks with 21 points. UMES trailed at the half, 29-27, but the Lobos hit their first seven shots of the second half to take a 44-33 lead. UTEP (2-2) lost 77-70 to New Mexico State on Tuesday.

ACC-BIG EAST CHALLENGE Wake Forest vs. Villanova North Carolina vs. Connecticut * WHEN: Tonight, 7 and 9, ESPN.

* WHERE: Dean E. Smith Center, Chapel Hill, N.C.

* OUTLOOK: Wake Forest and Villanova come into the opener with identical 3-1 records. The second game features two ranked teams -- No. 10 North Carolina (3-1) and No. 14 UConn (3-0) --

that still have plenty to prove. The Tar Heels have the nation's best recruiting class, but 7-foot Eric Montross and company aren't likely to carry a Dean Smith team as freshmen. The Huskies must replace point guard Tate George and swingman Nadav Henefeld.
