December 06, 1990

A 55-year-old Woodlawn man died early yesterday after falling 20 feet from a pallet being lowered by a forklift at a Jessup business, Howard County police said.

William Morris of the 3500 block of Flannery Lane was an employee of Frank A. Cerio and Sons, a baking supply company in the 8400 block of Dorsey Run Road in Jessup, police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m. yesterday, Mr. Morris was standing on a 20-foot-high pallet and loading baking supplies onto it when the forklift began to lower the pallet, and he fell to the concrete floor below, police said.

Mr. Morris was taken by state police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center with head injuries and was pronounced dead there shortly after he arrived, police said.
