Services for Ruth Marie Rile, a retired social worker, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home, 5305 Harford Road. Miss Rile, who was 65 and lived on Elkader Avenue, died Monday of cancer at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She retired about three years ago as an investigator of the qualifications of prospective foster parents for the Baltimore Department of Social Services, where she worked for more than 20 years.
Earlier jobs included working as a secretary in the office of the president of the Johns Hopkins University and for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in Japan during the 1950s.
Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Eastern High School and Oberlin College.
A former president of the College Club, the Baltimore unit of the American Association of University Women, she also served as its corresponding secretary.
In addition, she was the treasurer and a former president of the Chant-Hers, an auxiliary of the choral group of Boumi Temple, and served as corresponding secretary of the Bou-Tem-Sci Club.
She is survived by several cousins, and the family suggested memorial contributions to Boumi Temple for the Shrine Burn Center Hospital or to Faith Presbyterian Church, 5400 Loch Raven Blvd., Baltimore.
