North County Knights

1990-91 Anne Arundel County Hoops At A Glance

December 05, 1990

Head coach: Brad Wilson (first season)

Assistants: Danny Krimmelbein and Phil Salloway

1989-1990 records: Brooklyn Park 5-17; Andover 7-14.

Returnees: Seniors C. J. Prince (guard) and John Ray (forward); juniors Chris Coleman (forward), Nate Fuller (guard) and Troy Ross (guard); sophomore Rob Miller (guard).

Newcomers: Sophomores Greg Sabo (guard), Shawn Moyer (guard) and Robert Kelly (forward); freshman Reggie Moore (guard).

Coach's outlook: "I've got two seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen, so we're young and inexperienced as far as playing 4A schools. But I've also got guys who have played varsity before. They look good. They're very coachable and they're working hard. If we have to run, we will. If we have to be patient, we will. The kids really want to start this program off on the right foot. We know we're going to have to play great defense and be aggressive and we're just hoping everything else will fall into place."

Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: Wilson, an assistant with the Knights' football team this past fall, and Krimmelbein, an assistant with the boys soccer team, will try to bring their enthusiasm from those successful seasons to the basketball courts this winter. The Knights will indeed have to play inspired basketball. Their 13 players average 6 feet in height and their two tallest players -- Coleman and Kelly -- are only 6-foot-2. Moyer, the point guard, and Prince, the shooter, are emerging as court leaders on a team that will try to score primarily off its defense.
