Severn Admirals 1990-91

Anne Arundel County Hoops At A Glance

December 05, 1990

Head coach: Jim Doyle (fifth season)

Assistant coaches: Doug Williams

1989-1990 record: 7-13.

Returnees: Seniors Brendan Haggerty (forward), Dexter Walker (guard), James Duncan (guard) and Mark Warlock (center); juniors Mike Fisher (guard) and Jason Moran (guard); sophomores Jake Mack (guard) and Brad Fowler (guard).

Newcomers: Senior Daniel Wu (guard); juniors Louis Phipps (forward), Erik Kaukonan (forward) and Graydon Ripley (forward); sophomore Chris Pitkin (center-forward).

Coach's outlook: "Even though we're young, we're experienced. We have three returning starters, but the problem is two of them were freshmen last year and the other was a sophomore. We've upgraded our schedule outside the MSA C Conference and I think that is going to help our play in the conference.

Hopefully, we'll finish above .500. Last year, we started building the program and we developed a three-year plan. Right now, I think we're one year away from winning the conference."

Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: The Admirals are young, but certainly aren't strangers to the varsity level. St. Paul's and Park School appear head-and-shoulders above the rest of the league, but look for Severn to be staring into the eyes of the rest of the teams. Watch for sophomores Jake Mack and Brad Fowler to emerge as the most-decorated Admirals. If Severn's senior-laden frontcourt hits the offensive boards, the Admirals should have no problem finishing above .500.
