Pro basketball NBA -- Named Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls (averaged 31 points, 4.7 assists and 3 rebounds in three games) Player of the Week.

College basketball East Coast Conference -- Named F Angel Webb, University of Maryland Baltimore County, women's Player of the Week. For three games, Webb (Woodlawn), 6 feet, averaged 19.3 points and 11 rebounds.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference -- Named Loyola G Mary Thompson women's Rookie of the Week. She had a game-high 15 points in win over St. Francis, N.Y., and 11 points, 4 rebounds in one-point loss to Coppin State.

College soccer NCAA Division III All-America -- First team included F Dave Kidd Archbishop Curley), Salisbury State. Second team included B James Fuss, Frostburg State; M James Eppard, Frostburg State; F Kevin Jackson, Salisbury State.

Middle Atlantic Conference -- Women's all-conference team included M Annemarie Merow (John Carroll), Franklin & Marshall senior.

College cross country NCAA Division III All-America -- Team included Sharon Webb, Frostburg State, who placed 14th in championship race, 18:15.4 for 5,000 meters.

College field hockey NCAA Division III All-America -- First team included senior M Vicki Miller, and junior F Cheryl Ish, Salisbury State. Second team included senior B Vicki Conklin, Salisbury State.


NHL -- Announced New Jersey Devils RW John MacLean (5 1/8 goals, 3 assists in three games) is Player of the Week.

AHL -- Springfield Indians C Jim Black (2 goals, 10 assists in four games) has been named Player of the Week. LW Steve Maltais of the Baltimore Skipjacks (4 goals, 7 assists in three games) was runner-up.
