Baseball Atlanta Braves -- Signed third baseman Terry Pendleton (.230, 6 HR, 58 RBI in 121 games with Cardinals) to a 4-year, $9.8 million contract.

Baltimore Orioles -- Released P Mike Smith.

Chicago Cubs -- Released P Kevin Coffman.

Detroit Tigers -- Signed P Bill Gullickson (10-14, 3.82 ERA in 32 starts with Astros) to two year deal.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Kevin Gross to a three-year contract.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Named Tony Muser manager and Lamar Johnson coach at Denver (American Association); named Wayne Krenchicki manager of Arizona League team.

Montreal Expos -- P Dennis Martinez (10-11, 2.95) agreed to a three-year, $9.25 million contract. Released P Dale Mohorcic and OF Rolando Roomes.

New York Yankees -- Traded OF Oscar Azocar to the San Diego Padres for a minor league player to be named later.

Oakland Athletics -- Signed OF Willie Wilson (.290, 2 HR, 42 RBI with Royals) to two-year contract.

San Francisco Giants -- Signed OF Willie McGee, 1990 NL batting champion, to four-year, $13 million contract.

Basketball NBA -- Fined Bullets' Harvey Grant $6,000 for starting a fight with Pistons' Joe Dumars during Saturday's night game at the Capital Centre. Dumars got a $1,000 fine for retaliating. Also fined were the Bullets' Greg Foster ($2,000) and Darrell Walker ($1,500) and the Pistons' Dennis Rodman ($1,000), Mark Aguirre ($500), William Bedford ($500) and James Edwards ($500).

The league also fined the New Jersey Nets' Jack Haley ($2,500) and Derrick Coleman ($1,000) and the Orlando Magic's Mark Acres ($500) for another fight Saturday night that occurred in the third quarter of their game at the Meadlowlands Arena.

Cedar Rapids Silver Bullets (CBA) -- Signed F Roy Marble. Waived C Damon Vance.

Cleveland Cavaliers -- Signed G Darnell Valentine. He replaces G Mark Price, who suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a game Friday and will miss the rest of the season.

New York Knicks -- Fired head coach Stu Jackson. Named John MacLeod head coach.

College Delaware -- Named James W. Kent golf coach.

Fordham -- Signed Larry Glueck, football coach, and Nick Macarchuk, men's basketball coach, to multiyear contract extensions.

Georgia Tech -- Signed Bobby Ross, football coach, to a four-year contract.

Kent State -- Named Pete Cordelli Jr., offensive coordinator for Notre Dame, head football coach.

Mesa State -- Announced the suspension of RB Marlo Johnson for Saturday's NAIA championship football game for allegedly assaulting a fan with his helmet after Saturday's semifinal win over Central Arkansas.

Temple -- Announced that G Jonathan Haynes has left the basketball team and will transfer.

Vanderbilt -- Named Gerry DiNardo, offensive coordinator at Colorado, head football coach.

Football Detroit Lions -- Released LB Jimmy Williams, citing a sideline altercation during the Lions' 23-17 overtime loss to the Chicago Bears.

Miami Dolphins -- Activated WR Andre Brown and placed him on the practice roster. Waived G Tony Brown.

New York Giants -- Activated LB Carl Banks from injured reserve. Cut NT Kent Wells.

Phoenix Cardinals -- Activated DE Dexter Manley.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Fired head coach Ray Perkins. Named assistant Richard Williamson head coach.

Hockey Chicago Blackhawks -- Coach and general manager Mike Keenan has been fined $550 and sentenced to a year of court supervision for a drunken-driving arrest in October, his lawyer announced.

St. Louis Blues -- Returned D Dominic Lavoie and RW David Bruce to Peoria (IHL).
