Amy Griffin

Amy Griffin, 83, a former teacher who liked gardening and bird-watching, died Saturday at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster of complications from gall bladder surgery.

Funeral services were being held today at the Skiles funeral establishment, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg.

Mrs. Griffin had moved to Emmitsburg from the Guilford area of Baltimore in 1972. Her husband, Gerald E. Griffin, retired in 1972 as editorial page editor of The Sun.

Mrs. Griffin was active in the Emmitsburg Presbyterian Church.

Besides her husband, survivors include three daughters, Mary Simms of Washington, Ellen Burgoyne of Bethesda and Sally Hickey of Chevy Chase, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
