Daniel J. O'Toole Sr., 69, a retired structural ironworker and business agent for Iron Workers Local 16, died Saturday at Fort Howard Veterans Administration Medical Center after a long illness.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Edgemere.

Born in Jamaica, N.Y., Mr. O'Toole was a 1939 graduate of St. John's Prep in Queens. He served with the merchant marine during World War II.

He was a member of the Edgemere Moose Lodge and St. Luke's Church. He served on the board of directors of the Eastern Seaboard District of the White Lung Association and was the health and welfare representative for Iron Workers Local 16, of which he was a member for 25 years. He was also business agent for Local 16. Mr. O'Toole retired in 1977.

O'Toole of Fort Howard; a daughter, Mary Ellen O'Toole of Carney; two brothers, John O'Toole of Northville, N.Y., and James O'Toole of Ridgefield, Conn.; two sisters, Eileen Keller of Syosset, N.Y., and Kathleen Menken of Hollywood, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Association, 8219 Towne Center Drive, White Marsh 21162, or the White Lung Association, 1601 St. Paul St., Baltimore 21202.
