Suzanne V. Russell is named regional marketing representative for the engineering, architectural and planning firm of Buchart-Horn/BASCO Associates. She will be responsible for marketing the firm's services to industrial, development and government clients within Maryland. Thomas C. Ferrera is named president and chief executive officer for Intercontinental Consultants Corp., a market research firm. He was previously president of Shenandoah Inc., a national food processor. Mark Estienne, who has a doctorate in animal and dairy science, joins the University of Maryland Eastern Shore faculty with a joint appointment to the Maryland Cooperative Extension Service. He will teach and conduct research in the university's Department of Agriculture and work with swine producers throughout the state. He was previously a post-doctoral scholar researching mechanisms controlling the onset of puberty in farm animals at the University of Kentucky-Lexington.

At the plant:

Todd C. Kane is promoted to purchasing manager-raw materials for the McCormick Flavor Group of McCormick & Co. Inc. He joined the company in 1984 as purchasing agent, his most recent position. Before that, he spent five years in a similar capacity with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sykesville.


Jeffrey Hankin is named account executive with Noble Steed Associates. He was previously vice president of account services at the Reeves Agency. He is the former owner of Jeff Hankin Associates, a marketing and photographic consulting firm.

At W.B. Doner & Co., Walt Hampton Jr., John Parlato and Sande Riesett are named senior vice president, creative directors. Hampton was previously creative director with Chiat/Day/Mojo in Atlanta. Parlato joined Doner in 1979 as a junior copywriter and most recently worked as associate creative director. Riesett joined the company in 1986 as a group supervisor.


Dr. Carl M. Caplan joins Maryland Agency Inc. as a health care business consultant. He will assist in the development of strategies for maximizing the financial position of the practicing professional. He was formerly associate dean for clinical affairs at Georgetown University School of Dentistry and is currently a clinical associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Denistry.

At Diversified Insurance Industries Inc., a general insurance agency, Timothy Sasso joins as full-time producer and Paul Seibert joins as agency bond manager.

Public relations:

Karen Russell is named director of marketing and public relations for the Dome Corp., the for-profit arm of The Johns Hopkins University and The Johns Hopkins Health System. She will manage Dome's public relations activities and assist with the marketing efforts of Dome subsidiaries and affiliate companies.

She was previously marketing manager for real estate. Before that, she was director of public relations at Dundalk Community College.

Property management:

Nancy Taylor Kane is appointed property manager for The St. James Condominium located at 3704 N. Charles St. She will oversee building maintenance and supervise staff and contractors. She was previously community manager for Legum & Norman Inc. in Bethany Beach, Del. She has more than 20 years of property management experience. Barbara S. Florian is named vice president of marketing for Health Line Inc., a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland. Health Line markets a health care credit card that enables card members to pay for certain health care expenses. She was previously director of administration and finance for Central Medical Center Inc. in Baltimore.
