Ellicott City - Marie C. Wantz, 93, a Howard County resident, died Monday in Florida.
She was the wife of the late Sherman E. Wantz. Surviving are her sons, Robert V. Wantz and Sherman P. Wantz, both of Florida, and Russell C. Wantz of Westminster; daughter, Helen M. Dawson of here; sister, Clara Peterson of Baltimore County; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Gamber - J. Kenneth Hill Sr., 51, died Tuesday at his home. He was the husband of Barbara Mae S. Hill. A former manager of the Owings Mills Little League and softball, he was vice-president of Video Exchange. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Vicky Gittere of Finksburg; sons, Kenneth Hill Jr. of Hampstead, Randy Hill of Arizona and Larry Hill of here; sisters, Margaret Larkin of Westminster and Virginia Rittle of Baltimore County; brothers, James Hill of Westminster, William Hill of Sykesville, and David Hill, Danny Hill and Dwight Hill, all of here, and one granddaughter.
Gettysburg - Bertha M. Waybright, 90, died Monday at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Pennsylvania. The widow of Howard D. Waybright, she is survived by three children, Wilbur H. Waybright, Paul R. Waybright, and Joyce L. Crouse, all of here; brother, Wilbur Reifsnider of Harney, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Hampstead - Carrie M. Jones, 97, died Monday at the Longview Nursing Home, Manchester. Twice widowed, she was the wife of J. Oscar Jones and Lewis B.
Rohrbaugh. She was the mother of the late Russell A. Rohrbaugh. She had been employed at the American Insulator Corp. Survivors include daughters, Treva B. Myers of Pennsylvania and Hazel J. Stagner of here, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Linwood - Lerah I. Burrier, 85, died Wednesday at Carroll County General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Murray J. Burrier. A member of Linganore United Methodist Church, she also was active in the Carroll County Literary Club and the Pipe Creek Quilters. Survivors include her children, Verna B. Huffner, and John M. Burrier, both of Frederick County, Doris R. Arbaugh of here; Kenneth E. Burrier of Washington County, Mary Ann Albaugh of Taneytown, Franklin D. Burrier of Union Mills and Frederick J.
Burrier of Union Bridge; a brother, Arthur Stull of Montgomery County; sister, Erma Grove of Frederick, 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Mount Airy - Olea Hood, 95, died Monday at the Meridian Nursing Center in Frederick. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Hood. A lifelong member of Prospect United Methodist Church here, she also was a member of the Senior Citizens. Surviving are children, C. Ellis Hood of Frederick County, H. Donald Hood, Elizabeth M. Kraft and Betty M. Leatherwood, all of here, and J. Wesley Hood of Sykesville; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Sykesville - Francis R. Day, 88, died Wednesday at Sykesville Eldercare Center. He was the husband of Mary Lillian Day. He had worked for Noxell Corp. in Baltimore County. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Walter R. Day of Finksburg, and three grandchildren.
Taneytown - Frank H. Tighe, 90, died Tuesday at his home. He was the husband of the late Martha W. Tighe. He had worked for Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore County. Survivors include a son, Frank H. Tighe Jr. of here; daughter, Sally A. Bartkowiak of Baltimore County, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
