Three Carroll County residents have completed Navy recruit training.
Fireman Aaron K. Vanderslice and Seaman Recruit David M. Bushman completed training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.
Seaman Recruit George H. Tutor took his training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During their eight-week training cycle, they studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.
Vanderslice is the son of John S. and Barbara R. Vanderslice of Westminster. A 1990 graduate of Westminster High School, he joined the Navy in August.
Bushman is the son of Victoria J. Bushman of Sykesville and a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School. He joined the Navy in July.
Tutor is the son of Nancy M. Tutor of Westminster. A 1988 graduate of North Carroll High School, he joined the Navy in July.
* Marine Pvt. William M. Moses, son of Billy Moses of New Windsor, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
During the 13-week training cycle, he was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines.
Moses is a graduate of New Oxford High School, New Oxford, Pa.
* Navy Ensign James L. Simms has graduated from a Basic Civil Engineer Corps Officer Course.
During the two-month course at Port Hueneme, Calif., he received instruction on engineering management, network analysis, financial management and naval organization.
Simms is the son of William S. and Donna J. Simms of Sykesville. He is a 1986 graduate of Glenelg High School, Howard County, and a 1990 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., with a bachelor of science degree. He joined the Navy in May.
* Marine Sgt. Michael L. Schudel, son of George H. Schudel of Westminster, recently reported for duty at Marine Corps Air Facility, Quantico, Va.
A 1981 graduate of Gates-Chili Senior High School, Rochester, N.Y., he joined the Marine Corps in November 1982.
