William J. Rider, disaster recovery coordinator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland's Information Services Division, has been named to the Disaster Recovery Institute Certification Board of Directors.
The institute is a non-profit international organization that provides education programs and a certification process for qualified disaster recovery and corporate contingency planners. Headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., the institute was founded in 1988.
Rider also serves as president of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield EDP/Business Resumption Support Group.
He is a graduate of Calvert Hall College High School and attended Essex Community College. He is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Disaster Recovery Association.
Rider resides in Forest Hill.
HICKEY PRESIDENT OF CIVIC ASSOCIATION
Robert Hickey was elected president of the Edgewood Meadows Civic and Improvement Association Inc. during the organization's November general meeting.
He will be assisted by Rebecca Cole, first vice president; Dick Bolduc, second vice president; Mary Lou LaNier, recording secretary; Karen Green, corresponding secretary; and Jeanine Blumline, treasurer.
Elected to the board-at-large were Roy Albert, Malcom Gordon and Lois Roberts.
