He finished off the regular season on Nov. 8 by rushing for 115 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-0 romp over Fallston that clinched the county title for the Mustangs. In the 28-6 state quarterfinal victory over Dundalk on Nov. 16, Batten ran for three touchdowns. In the semifinal on Nov. 23, Batten scored the game-winning touchdown in sudden-death overtime to lead the Mustangs to a 13-7 win over Oakland Mills.
