When teams tried to end Fallston's two-year reign as state Class 2A field hockey champs, Tammy Kloiber, the team's goalie, stopped them cold. In the state championship game on Nov. 10, Kloiber made a spectacular save against a penalty stroke to preserve a 1-0 victory over J. M. Bennett as the Cougars won their third straight state title. Her excellent reflexes and uncanny ability to anticipate where the ball is headed has made Kloiber the county's top goalie. The junior also provided heroics in the state semifinal Nov. 5. Against Middletown, Kloiber saved two shots in a sudden-death shootout to help Fallston to a 2-1 victory. Kloiber hasn't allowed a goal on a penalty stroke in her two years as the Cougars' only goalie.
