Odenton resident Ruth Woods was recently honored as "1990-'91 Woman of the Year" by the Glen Burnie Business and Professional Women.

Several area seniors received medals in the 11th annual Maryland Senior Olympics. Winners included George Blinchikoft, Elizabeth Dow, Betty Evans, Norris Fluke, Elmer L. Hall and Steve F. Herbenar.

Francis "Skip" Fennell, associate professor of education aWestern Maryland College, received the 1990 Outstanding Mathematics Educator award from the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Kim Sanders of the Catholic High School of Baltimore was named the school's top Shell Century Three Leader, and Millicent Hunt was selected as a student panel member at a recent conference held by the Maryland Multicultural Coalition.

Denise Kwiatkowski, a freshman at Salisbury State University, has received a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship from the school.

Towson attorney James F. Rosner was named NationaVolunteer of the Year by the Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States.

Thirteen seniors at Notre Dame Preparatory School were recently honored as finalists, semifinalists or honorable mentions in the Maryland Higher Education Commission's distinguished scholars program. Finalists: Suzanne Dieter, Brenna McDonald, Alison Gorman, Eileen Gorman and Diane Gioioso. Semifinalists: Jennifer Nemec and Marisso Maximo. Honorable mentions: Christina Marsalek, Shana Chacko, Melissa Weber, Bethani Jung, Rosanna Rivera and Felice Tan.
