At the plant: Orlando R. DeFelice is appointed operations accounting manager for the McCormick Flavor Group of McCormick & Co. Inc. He will assist all of the group's facilities in the analysis of plant operations and costing implementation. He also will serve as pricing liaison among the sales, marketing and accounting groups.

Lois A. Harmic is promoted to financial reporting and systems manager for the corporate controllership of McCormick. She will be responsible for the administration of a corporate-wide computer-based financial and consolidation reporting system. She joined the company in 1987 and most recently worked as senior accountant.

Advertising

Kathy Seddon joins Kayla Advertising in Columbia as a marketing and promotional specialist. She will be responsible for providing imprinted items, marketing tools and promotional ideas businesses in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Transportation

William W. Leedy is appointed director of intermodal sales-Midwest region for CSL Intermodal, a unit of CSX Corp. He will be responsible for business growth in the Midwestern United States, including the continued development of CSL's domestic container/Frequent Flyer service and the DixieXpress intermodal train service.

Engineering

Peter Dachel is named director, new and advanced program development, for the Bendix Field Engineering Corp. He will be responsible for refining the corporation's overall strategic planning goals by targeting new business opportunities. He will retain his previous responsibilities as the company's chief technical officer. He joined the company in 1980 as chief engineer for hydrogen maser atomic frequency standard research and fabrication.

Melissa Sander joins WJZ-TV's Eyewitness News team as a general assignment reporter. She was previously a general assignment reporter for WTNH-TV, the ABC affiliate in New Haven, Conn.

At WCAO/WXYV Radio, John Coulson joins the station's sales force. He previously served as an account executive for CBS-owned WLTT Radio in Washington. WCAO is owned by Summit Broadcasting Corp.

Larry Munson is named director of equity marketing in the Research Department of Legg Mason Wood Walker Inc. He replaces W. Tal Daly, who left to become director of research for a San Francisco investment firm. Munson joined Legg Mason as an investment executive three years ago after working in equipment leasing for Maryland National Bank, General Electric and Dart & Kraft Financial Corp.

Angelo C. Poletis is promoted to a principal in the firm of Rowles & Co. He was previously manager of federal taxes with McCormick & Co.

At Kamanitz Uhlfelder & Permison, Sharie Yousem Hyman is named manager of the Tax Department. She will be responsible for individual and corporate tax matters. Hyman, who specializes in the retail and wholesale industry, was previously the manager in the firm's Accounting and Auditing Department.

Raymond Holtz joins ATEC Environmental Consultants as branch manager of the Columbia industrial hygiene office. He will be responsible for the daily management of the office. He was previously assistant director of Environmental Service Division. Before that, he spent 15 years with Bethlehem Steel Corp., most recently as assistant environmental health engineer.

Not-for-profit

Carl R. Oulton is named director of marketing and development for The Chimes Inc., a not-for-profit agency in Baltimore that provides educational, vocational, habilitative and residential services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. He will be responsible for raising contributions for current operating funds, capital projects and endowment purposes along with handling public relations and marketing for The Chimes.

He was previously director of annual giving at Loyola College. Before that, he was account executive for Philanthropy Management Inc. in New York, a firm that specializes in fund raising.
