A 12-year-old boy was killed and his 15-year-old friend was injured last night when the motorized mini-bike they were riding collided with a car on a poorly lighted street in Northwest Baltimore, police said.
Nicholas Langley of the 2900 block of Woodland Avenue was pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital from massive head and neck injuries.
His friend, Anthony Mark of the 3600 block of Oakmont Avenue, was in stable condition at Sinai Hospital.
Officer Richard Youngbar said the accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. as the youths rode their mini-bike west in the 2700 block of Oakley Avenue.
The bike did not have a headlight, and the youths were not wearing helmets, he said.
An eastbound car swerved in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid hitting the boys, police said.
Police said no charges were filed.
