E. Schmalenberger Westinghouse manager

Services for Edward Schmalenberger, operations program manager at the Oceanic Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp., will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Barranco and Sons Funeral Homes, Ritchie Highway and Robinson Road, Severna Park.

Mr. Schmalenberger, who was 64 and lived in Chartwell, died Wednesday at North Arundel Hospital after a heart attack.

He had been with Westinghouse for 33 years, working in Pittsburgh before being transferred to the division near the Bay Bridge 20 years ago. A native of Belleville, Ill., he earned an electrical engineering degree at the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a former president of the Severna Park Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Midge Stein; two daughters, Jean Lindler of Severna Park and Janice Schlachte of Upper Marlboro; a son, Edward W. Schmalenberger of Pittsburgh; a brother, Warren Schmalenberger of Springfield, Ill.; sister, Roselyn Anderson of Belleville; and five grandchildren.
