Monsignor A.T. Stallings, church founder

Monsignor Albert T. Stallings, founder of St. Clare's Catholic Church in Essex, died Sunday at Francis Scott Key Medical Center after a long illness. He was 82.

A funeral mass for Monsignor Stallings was being offered today at St. Clare's, at 714 Myrth Ave.

Monsignor Stallings was ordained in 1936 and 20 years later he founded St. Clare's, where he remained until his retirement in 1983. He was chaplain of Maryland Law Enforcement Officers Inc.

In 1982, Monsignor Stallings received the Prelate of Honor from Pope John Paul II.

He is survived by two brothers, Daniel J. and Donald G. Stallings, and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in honor of Monsignor Stallings may be made to St. Clare's Church.
