Four people, including a deputy attorney general and a Circuit Court master, have been nominated to fill the Howard County Circuit Court seat that will be vacated when Judge J. Thomas Nissel retires at the end of this year.

The county's Judicial Nominating Commission recommended Dennis M. Sweeney, deputy Maryland attorney general; Bernard A. Raum, Circuit Court master; Louis P. Willemin, a county assistant public defender; and Lewis S. Nippard, an Ellicott City lawyer.

Their names have been forwarded by letter to Gov. William Donald Schaefer, who will make the appointment.
