Goldye Goodman is a petite 60-year-old, who weighs in under 100 pounds. She loves clothes and takes great care to coordinate her wardrobe. She has been married to Bernard for 40 years and has worked at Heirloom Jewels in Pomona Square for 12 years. They have two children, son Richard, and daughter, Randy.

How would you describe your taste in clothing?

Unique -- for example I prefer wool with glitz, as opposed to satin or silks with glitz. I love anything that is leather or suede. Several years ago, I went on a cruise to the islands and took only glitzy leather and suede outfits for the evening. I was the talk of the ship. If they made leather bathing suits I'd wear them.

What's the newest thing in your closet?

I just bought the best looking British suit at Saks. It's black and white houndstooth check and the jacket has gold chains all over it.

What's the oldest thing in your closet?

It's a Bill Blass black velvet gown and jacket that I wore to my son's bar mitzvah party 23 years ago. I call it my Dr. HD gown. The jacket and bottom of the gown are trimmed with fur. I carried a black fur muff with it and I can still wear the outfit.

Do you have a true "standby" that you wear to feel good and look good when you're in doubt?

This year it's my black catsuit. I also have an orange one, but I wear the black one more. I love it because you can belt it, scarf it, or put a blazer on and go anywhere.

If you had a chance to have a quiet little dinner with the person you most like, who would that be and what would you wear?

It would be my second favorite trumpet player, Doc Severinsen, because he loves to dress and loves clothes. Doc's taste is more dazzling than anyone I know, male or female. I love to look in his closet. (Her husband, Bernard, is her first favorite trumpet player. The Goodmans are Doc's close friends.)

I'd wear a black and silver sequined blue jean suit that has a miniskirt. With that I'd wear a silver camisole and very high black satin pumps. I believe in keeping the shoes simple when the outfit is wild.

What is your wardrobe weakness?

Everything. I collect belts, shoes, sunglasses, boots, blazers. I'm excessive about everything. I love to wear groups of jewelry -- for example, I'll wear about 10 lady bugs in a circle.

I collect colored blazers and have one or two in every color. I bet I have at least six red leather skirts and 24 or more bathing suits. I'm excessive and I love for everything to match.

What's the most expensive item in your closet?

A beautiful Giorgio Armani olive green suit that has a draped sarong skirt.

Do you like hats?

I used to wear hats and I've saved all my fur hats. I have one in every color mink, but since no one wears them anymore, I'll just save them. I rarely throw anything away.

Does your husband buy clothes for you?

Never. I love him, but his taste in clothing is for the pits.
