Alan M. Marvel, Accountant in Towson

Services for Alan M. Marvel, a partner in a Towson accounting firm, will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Warren and Ridgeland roads, in Cockeysville.

Mr. Marvel, who was 38, died Saturday of cancer at his home on Hemlock Court in Cockeysville.

Since 1986, he had been a partner in the firm of Grabush, Newman & Co. in Towson. Earlier, he was a partner in another Towson accounting firm, Tarr and Scholl. He specialized in tax planning and retirement and fringe benefit planning for businesses.

He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

At the Epworth United Methodist Church, he was chairman of the administrative board and former treasurer.

Mr. Marvel was a member of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce and the Towson Business Association and of the finance committee of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Born in Baltimore, he was a 1970 graduate of the Towson High School and a 1976 graduate of the University of Baltimore. He served in the Air National Guard.

Mr. Marvel is survived by his wife, the former Loetta Stalls; two sons, James and Jason Wallace, both of Cockeysville; and his parents, Martin E. and Nancy L. Marvel of Towson.
