A Mass of Christian burial for retired Air National Guard Brig. Gen. Francis E. Dougherty Jr., an engineer with the Martin Marietta Corp., will be offered at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church in Bel Air.
General Dougherty, who was 61 and lived in Bel Air, died Sunday at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a heart attack.
He retired in 1988 as chief of staff of the Air National Guard, in which he served since 1960. He had been a fighter pilot in the Air Force in the 1950s. His decorations included the Legion of Merit.
A senior group engineer in the Aero and Naval Systems division at Middle River, he had worked for Martin for nine years. Earlier, he worked 26 years as an engineer for the AAI Corp.
