Sallie T. Grigsby

Sallie Thompson Grigsby, a retired employee of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, died of cancer Saturday at her home in Rehoboth Beach, Del. She was 79.

A memorial service for Mrs. Grigsby will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

A native of Tennessee, she moved with her family to Baltimore in 1919 and graduated from Girls Latin School.

Following her marriage to Robert E. Grigsby Jr. in 1936, the couple moved to Montgomery County. They lived there until she retired in 1975 and moved to Delaware.

Mrs. Grigsby worked 13 years for APL as a secretary and assistant to engineers at the Laurel research facility.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Susan G. Margach of Rochester, N.Y., Pamela G. Cohan of Atlanta, and Sally DeSantis of Cherry Hill, N.J.; two sisters, Sue T. Wilson and Ida T. Sandidge, both of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, J. Cary Thompson Jr. of Dallas; and nine grandchildren.

The family suggested that contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Delaware or the Delaware Hospice.
