CHILD AND FATHER HURT BY GUNMAN

An 18-month-old boy and his father were injured early yesterday morning during an apparent domestic dispute after a gunman fired several shots into their car outside a restaurant in Annapolis.

The child, Alfredo Reyes of Madison Place in Annapolis, was flown to the Washington D.C. Children's Center where he was in stable condition. His father, Jorge Vitelio Rauda, 29, of the same address, was in stable condition yesterday at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

County police have issued arrest warrants charging Juan Evangelista Villatoro, 29, of the 300 block Center Street in Annapolis with two counts of assault with intent to murder.

Charges are pending against another man, Jose Villatoro, who police said was with Juan Villatoro at the time of the shooting.

It is not known if Jose Villatoro played a part in the attempted murders, investigators said.

Investigators said that about 2:20 a.m., Rauda was sitting in his car behind Fred's restaurant in the 2000 block of Solomon's Island Road with his son in his lap. He was waiting for his wife, who is an employee at the restaurant, to finish her shift.

Juan Villatoro, who police said dates Rauda's sister Maria, drove up to the car and for "no apparent reason" began firing several shots with an automatic gun into the car.
