Housing laws a good move, Realtor says

NEW ORLEANS -- The new federal housing legislation is a step toward solving the affordability problem, the president of the NationalAssociation of Realtors said recently at the trade group's annual convention.

But more needs to be done, insisted Norman B. Flynn, a broker from Madison, Wis., and the top spokesman for the trade group.

Looking at this month's election results, Mr. Flynn predicted no major changes in housing decisions by policy-makers in Washington, noting that the membership of most of the major congressional committees that deal with housing-policy issues were left intact.
