Coppin defeats Czech team, 93-87

Coppin State's basketball program got off to the right start last night as the team defeated Sparta of Czechoslovakia, 93-87, in its opening game.

The Eagles were led by Reggie Isaac and Larry Stewart, who scored 27 points each. Isaac, Michael Johnson and James Mazyck led the team in assists with six each.

Marcus Hammond was Coppin State's leading rebounder, pulling down six boards.

Ivan Benes paced Sparta's offense, hitting all five of his three-point attempts and scoring 17 points.

Coppin State will travel to Oklahoma next Saturday to play the University of Tulsa.
