November 17, 1990

A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Helen Lilly-Flaherty, a retired nurse, will be offered at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 13305 Long Green Pike, Hydes.

Mrs. Lilly-Flaherty, who was 67, died of cancer Wednesday at her home in the Broadview Apartments.

The former Mary Helen Lilly was a native of Baltimore. She was a graduate of Western High School and, in 1944, of the nursing school at the Hospital for the Women of Maryland.

She served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then married Donald F. Flaherty, now a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel who lives in Albuquerque, N.M. They lived in Germany, Norway and Japan before their marriage ended in divorce in 1970.

Returning to Baltimore, she worked as a nurse at the Keswick home, then at Levindale until she retired about 10 years ago and moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, with her companion and cousin, George C. Lilly.

Her survivors also include a son, Edward Flaherty of Paris; two daughters, Ann Easter of Baltimore and Reily Flaherty-Laub of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
