A block of Centre Street, between Calvert Street and Guilford Avenue, will be closed for four days, beginning at 6 p.m. tomorrow, to make way for the erection of a steel skywalk for the Baltimore Sun building.
The closing will allow heavy cranes to lift the steel walkway onto concrete support piers. The skywalk will connect the newspapers' Calvert Street offices with its new Chesapeake Center offices and garage.
Traffic eastbound on Centre Street will be detoured one block north on Calvert Street, east on Monument Street, south on Guilford, then east again on Centre.
Guilford Avenue, too, will close at Monument Street for four hours beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday as the walkway is lifted into place.
Barring delays, Calvert Street will reopen at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
