Parking Rates To Double

November 14, 1990

TANEYTOWN - Parking your car in this North Carroll town is going to cost you twice as much next year, as rates at the city's 103 parking meters jump to 10 cents an hour in January.

Work has begun on changing the meters, located mostly along and near Baltimore Street. Seven new meters are to be placed in the city's recently repaved parking lot on East Baltimore Street.

Under the new rates, a half-hour will cost 5 cents, an hour 10 cents and two hours 25 cents. Currently, rates are a flat 5 cents an hour.

In other news, the City Council began consideration of a sewer line-refurbishing project Monday night, a project that is expected to reduce the amount of storm water creeping into the 700,000-gallon-a-day treatment plant.

A Landover consultant told the council that resealing all 3,400 feet of the main sewer line leading into the plant could cost up to $253,000. The council will study the project for the rest of the year, and the work is scheduled to be done early next year.
