ABC cancels daring, low-rated 'Cop Rock' series

November 13, 1990|By David Zurawik

ABC pulled the plug yesterday on "Cop Rock," one of the most critically acclaimed new shows of the season.

The last episode of the Steven Bochco show, which coupled police drama with music, will air Dec. 26, ABC Entertainment President Robert Iger said.

"In 'Cop Rock,' Steven Bochco delivered a daring and brilliantly produced series -- one all of us at ABC are proud to be associated with," Mr. Iger said. But the show consistently lost the ratings battle in its time period to NBC's "Hunter."

An ABC spokesman said all on-going story lines will be resolved by the Dec. 26 episode.
