CROMWELL FOUNTAIN WINS COUNTY AWARD

The Villages of Cromwell Fountain was the only residential community in the county to receive the county executive's Excellence in Beautification and Development Award.

The Villages of Cromwell Fountain, located on Ordnance Road in Glen Burnie, was praised for its design and affordability.

"This exercise in affordable housing provides needed housing stock and does it at a level of design well in excess of the economic constraints," the judges said. "The site planning reflects sensitivity to issues such as privacy, and the elevation treatments are handsome."

For the last two years, the Villages of Cromwell Fountain has been the county's most successful new-home community, according to Legg Mason reports. The project was started by CFA Associates in 1987 and has aimed to provide affordable homes with architectural excellence, both in the interior and exterior design, as well as strong, identifiable landscaping and such community amenities as a pool, tennis courts and bathhouse.
