ATLANTA -- An Atlanta real estate agency is planning a "Midnight Madness Sale" in an effort to stimulate business in the sluggish housing market.

Fourteen West Realty has asked its sellers to reduce prices by 5 percent to 10 percent during the three days of the sale, Friday, Saturday and next Sunday.

Thirty-eight of 92 sellers have agreed to do so, and more are likely to follow suit, said Susan Schlittler, co-owner of the agency.

One seller, Cloud Conrad, said she will cut her $159,900 asking price by 5 percent, or $8,000.

"I need some traffic through my home," said Ms. Conrad, whose three-bedroom brick house has been on the market for two months.

The agency says it will cut its commission during the sale by half a percentage point to a full point.
