WESTMINSTER -- Quarterback Marty Brennan rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another, as host and No. 20 `D Westminster (7-3, 5-1) defeated rival South Carroll (4-6, 1-5), in a Central Maryland Conference game, 30-20.

The victory gave the Owls, defending co-champions, a share of the conference title. Westminster also finished 3-0 against Carroll County opponents.

Brennan finished 6-for-9 for 60 yards and had 58 yards rushing. Mike Rodgers led Westminster in rushing with 78 yards.

"The loss to Frederick [Westminster's only conference loss -- in overtime] really hurt us, but winning the title is great. There is a rich tradition here, and we're the first Westminster team in a long time to do this [win back-to-back titles]," said Brennan.

Receiver Mike Downs led the Cavaliers with 62 yards on five receptions.

The Owls held South Carroll to only 72 yards in the first half, most of that coming on a 42-yard pass from Joe Goodwin to Bryan Baker. Meanwhile, the Owls rushed for 161 yards and Brennan went 4-for-6 for 29 yards.
