Robinson Goes Into Hall Of Fame

November 09, 1990

John M. Robinson of Severna Park is among five ex-Western Maryland College athletic greats inducted into the college's sports Hall of Fame's class of 1990.

Robinson, a member of Green Terrors' 1941 Mason-Dixon Conference championship basketball team, was also a two-year varsity baseball player.

During his three-year career on the hardwoods, Western Maryland compiled a 39-23 record.

On the baseball diamond, Robinson played both pitcher and shortstop, earning second-team honors on The Sun's 1942 All Maryland team.

The Catonsville native spent three years with the Army's 78th Infantry Division, where he coached the basketball team to the Berlin District Championship in 1945-1946.
