November 08, 1990

A 29-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed repeatedly today at her northwest Baltimore home.

The victim, Marie Paye, of the 3700 block of Mohawk Ave., was in serious condition today at Sinai Hospital. Paye was stabbed with a knife three times in the abdomen and three times in chest after being attacked in the bathroom of her home.

Her husband has been charged in the stabbing.

The victim was undergoing surgery this afternoon at Sinai Hospital.

Paul Umansky, hospital spokesman, said, "The baby was moving," indicating that the fetus was still alive. However, he had no additional information.

Police arrested the woman's husband, Lonnie Paye, 27, at the couple's home. He was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault with a deadly weapon and was being held at the Northwest District lockup awaiting a bail hearing before a court commissioner.

Police said they had no information what may have led to the stabbing.
