Renowned wheelchair tennis players Kevin Whelan and Ryan Martin will play mixed doubles with professionals Andrea Leand and Stacey Martin in a preliminary match at the First National Bank Tennis Festival, Nov. 27 at the Baltimore Arena.
The 1990 tournament is being played "For a Child's Benefit," with the net profits distributed among the Children's Hospital and Center for Reconstructive Surgery, the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Greater Baltimore Tennis Patrons Association.
Whelan, 33, a Woodlawn resident, is the No. 3-ranked player in the United States in the Quad division. He reached the semifinals of the French Open and the Mid-West Indoor Championship this season. Martin reached the U.S. Open semifinals this year.
