Loyola disappointed by soccer exclusion

November 06, 1990

The Loyola College soccer team was disappointed that it was not one of the 28 teams selected to participate in the NCAA Division I tournament.

The Greyhounds finished with a 16-2-5 record, but the selection committee was not impressed with their strength of schedule. Loyola did fine against the quality opponents it faced, going 2-2-3 against teams that were in the Top 20 when they met, but there just weren't enough of them on the Greyhounds' schedule.

Loyola again dominated the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, outscoring the opposition 61-1 in 10 MAAC games.

Towson State and Johns Hopkins will be host to league playoff games today. The Tigers meet Rider at 2 p.m. in an East Coast Conference semifinal, and the Blue Jays play Swarthmore at 7 p.m. in the Middle Atlantic Conference Southeast League title game.
